Cat-in-the Bag Knockoffs: Wearable Cat Carriers That Look Like Us (But Aren’t)

  • There have been several knockoffs of our Cozy Comfort Carrier since it first hit the market over a decade ago.
  • Cat-in-the-Bag knockoffs aren’t just bad for us, they’re bad for customers too. These copycats are often lesser-quality, less secure, and not as comfortable as our unique, wearable cat carrier.
  • There’s only one Cozy Comfort Carrier, and it’s made by Cat-in-the-Bag. Look for our trademarked logo to make sure you’re getting the real deal.

We love flattery. Who wouldn’t? When our customers tell us that they love our cat bags because they’ve made traveling, medicating, and nail-trimming so much easier; because their cats are so comfortable and calm; and because we give great customer service, we’ll take that all day long!

But there’s a type of flattery we DON’T want any day, ever. We’re talking knockoffs.

Imitation: the sincerest form of flattery? Hardly. When a product is doing well and another retailer steals that product’s design and marketing, there’s nothing sincere about it. It’s an underhanded, deceitful way to harm a business and, ultimately, customers.

Encountering Copycats of Our Unique Cat Carriers

Our wearable cat carrier has had its share of pirates. The first one appeared a decade ago. That company’s product looked enough like the Cat-in-the-Bag Cozy Comfort Carrier to cause confusion among buyers looking for us.

But it didn’t pay enough attention to the carefully-thought-out Cat-in-the-Bag, which came on the market in 2000 after much research into comfort for cats and ease of use for their owners. The knockoff cost much less, but corners were cut. That same knockoff has been sold under many different names over the years as small-time drop-shippers found it on the website of the Chinese retailer Alibaba and then re-sold it.

Designed to Comfort Your Cat

We created our wearable cat carrier 25 years ago for our cat, Gremlin, who got sick in his crate and rubbed his nose raw against the bars. We needed an alternative to closed-in carriers. That solution was our gentle cat restraint bag, which offered a heads-free design to minimize the fear of confinement so many cats have, a shoulder strap for easy carrying, and a seat-belt pass-through loop for secure car travels.

Every detail of our unique and wearable cat carrier, from the adjustable Velcro collar to snag-resistant design, was thoughtfully designed. Those knockoffs? Not so much.

Cozy Comfort Carrier? Think Again.

In recent years, we became aware of a company that sells this knockoff wearable cat carrier with marketing that implies they developed the concept behind it.

They did not. Neither did another retailer out of China that is now copying our design and using either their own marketing team or AI to blatantly copy our marketing. Its design is very similar to ours, but there are differences that could make it less secure.

We’re certainly not the only business that’s faced this sort of challenge, and yes, it hurts us in lost sales and reputation as customers buy an inferior product thinking that it’s ours.

But if you purchase a knockoff wearable cat carrier that is not as secure and not as comfortable as the original, you and your cat have been ripped off. We think that’s worse.

The Problem With Cat-in-the-Bag Knockoffs

comparison between Cat-in-the-Bag wearable cat carrier and knockoffs

These cat carriers are poor imitations of the real thing, lacking the quality, comfort, and security of our original Cozy Comfort Carrier.

Inferior Quality

Those low prices come at a big cost. Cat-in-the-Bag knockoffs are made with cheaper materials and substandard craftsmanship, significantly reducing the overall quality of your cat carrier.

Our unique, wearable cat carriers are made with superior craftsmanship and 100% cotton that’s tightly woven to resist scratches and ensure durability and comfort.

Sizing Issues = Less Security, More Anxiety

The sizing of competitors’ bags is much too small for most cats. This can heighten stress and anxiety in cats, making vet visits and travel frightening experiences. Cats that feel trapped may also try to claw out of their bag to escape!

Our soft cat carrier comes in four sizes to comfortably fit your feline:

  • Extra Small – For cats that are approximately under 5 lbs.
  • Small – For most cats under 10 lbs.
  • Large – For most cats that are around 10 lbs. and up
  • Extra Large – For large cats that are lean and long, such as Maine Coon cats, Ragdoll cats, and Norwegian Forest cats.

No Cozy Comfort

Knockoffs take the “Cozy Comfort” out of our Cozy Comfort Carrier. Made of lycra and other cheap fabrics, they’re often scratchy and lack ventilation.

Cat-in-the-Bag’s wearable cat carrier is soft and breathable, thoughtfully made with your cat’s comfort in mind. It’s also roomy! Your cat can sit, stand, stretch, and comfortably lie down on their terms.

How to Spot a Knockoff

  • Product Quality – Inspect materials and craftsmanship. Cheap or sloppy stitching is a good sign that your bag is a knockoff.
  • Price – If the price of a knockoff is too good to be true, it likely is.
  • Seller & Source – Make sure you get our unique cat carrier from a legitimate source, like our website or our Amazon Store.

There’s Only One Cat-in-the-Bag Cozy Comfort Carrier

Knockoffs of our wearable cat carrier help no one, least of all your cat, who deserves the real Cozy Comfort Carrier, not a copycat.

Please, look for our trademarked logo and remember the name: Cat-in-the-Bag. Bag carriers that look similar but are under other brand names are just out to deceive you.
